YAWN.

I’ve heard it all before.

My old art teacher visited recently and said to me “too many people in Birmingham complain about the state of our art and design sectors, but nobody really does anything about it.”

Stef Lewandowski didn’t like the new Birmingham City Council website so he did something about it. Epic win. If I was him, I’d be pretty chuffed, he seems to have made a success out of BCCDIY.

Raveal

Raveal:
Looks better than LinkedIn (what doesn’t?!) just doesn’t have the community yet.

edenspiekerman_ Update

I`ve been to meet Erik Spiekermann. I´m not going to tell you much more than that, but let me tell you: it was fantastic. I will be writing up a complete report of my time here in Berlin for your viewing pleasure tomorrow.

I`m here in Berlin now. There´s not much to say really, I`m in the hotel and it`s absolutely throwing it down with rain! This keyboard is unbelievably ridiculous to type with too. The keys are all over the place!

I really need to start putting my ideas down onto paper because I`m definitely going to forget them. I really wanna ask him about the manifesto that EdenSpiekermann has. How do clients react to it?

It is extremely hard to avoid the obvious questions like, “what`s your favourite typeface?” I think he´d just kick me out if I asked him that.

I`ve bought some of the work from SMILE with me. Rather cheeky I know, but when else am I ever going to have the chance to get a crit by Eric Spiekermann?

Tomorrow will be a strange day with a lot of occurences that simply wouldn´t happen in my day to day life. I`m determined not to get starstruck by Mr. Spiekermann, because we`re all just human, right? I know that some of the things that I`m going to ask, like “can I video this meeting” might be a little offputting, I just hope that it doesn´t ruin it.

Time for some last minute revision on Erik Spiekermann.

On the plane now.
