I have a potentially fantastic use for posterous. It’s so good, you’d think that that the service was made for it. I can’t talk too much about it, but if you guys that run this sweet little machine are watching, please start thinking about how users can integrate posterous into their own site! Maybe you would even want to talk about the project further with me so that we can push the service forward. The client is a joy to work with and the potential for awards and publicity is unparalleled. Sponsorship anyone?
The western recession is coming into full swing and the next 5 years could be a golden age for small startups to become household names. Stay free for the FULL duration of the recession and then whack the revenue strategy in when everyone has money and isn’t hacked off with viral, cheap, online advertising. Surely this has to be a perfect solution. As long as you stay focused on creating a service that is at the top of its game, the users will pay anything to stay with you. Get this timing wrong and buh-bye!
What I’m saying is,
Posterous; don’t let me down.
I need solid performance matched with a bright future.
Before I dismissed Posterous in my usual highly critical manner. Looking back this was unfair. It was pretty useless for me. Not because the service was terrible. Far from it. It just has niggles that wouldn’t fit into my workflow. These 3rd party cloud apps have to be almost invisible. Now most people freak out about here because “surely the company won’t get recognised blah blah blah”. Nonsense.
Twitter. I rarely go to the web-site. On my desktop I post via twitterrific, my iPhone, via Twinkle. Yet I love twitter like no other service. I actively preach about it, I am an unpaid ambassador for the service. I have become their advertising. Oh yeah, and guess what, Twitter is growing really bloody fast!
Invisible services fit into peoples lifestyles which makes them feel intrinsic to the service.
Posterous could be a twitter. I see a HUGE market for this service but people wont pay for this… yet. Maybe some never will, but there’s sure to be 101 solutions (pro versions, more space etc.). I will talk more about these as the project develops.
I look forward to telling you more!
