My kid could do that

When people say ‘my kid could do that’ it irritates me because they inherrently mean that they think it has no worth. The reality is quite the opposite.

What got me thinking about this was the current Starbucks brand strategy. It has a similar effect on people. So anyway, I’ve come up with a theory.

It is true that a child has the ability to technically resemble the style that has been portrayed. However, they didn’t; and neither did you. What is more, is that you kick yourself because you didn’t. You speak out of some form of instinctive jealousy. You wish that you had because it does exactly as it sets out to. In other words; you wish you’d have thought of that.
