Jewellery Brief

Yeah, this is late! Smile is doing some work for BCU Jewellery School. Had a meeting last Thursday to discuss the redesign of their short course prospectus. As it stands it looks like its being done to the old (UCE) colours. After doing some work on BCU KTP’s with David Os, I’m confident that we can make something hot with the new brand guidelines.

Everyone seemed extremely proud of the school and the building, I can see why too. Theres a very different ethos over there compared to Gosta Green. I likened it to Hogwarts, theres some courses that are incredibly specialised.

i.e. Gemology, horology etc.

It really shows how complacent we get staying over in our little graphic design bubble, we become ignorant to other professions. Its the barrier that will be hardest to overcome. When we looked at the exiting prospectus the images looked like they had been picked for their aesthetic qualities, not so! Grace (a friend of Matt’s) told us that they were there because they used techniques referenced in the copy. We’re going to have to work closer than we thought with the school.

From the desk of Mr. Monk I'm a twenty-something creative type. This is my online journal in which I collect and share links, images, thoughts and sometimes reflect on current work.
