Visual Communication Graduate Showcase 2009

I’ve finished putting together the boards for our graduate show today. It’s been a long week, but the result was worth the effort; they really stand out.

There is a lot of work on display at BIAD this coming week, so what I’ve done is pick out some work that I believe you should take a look at if you’re coming to take a gander.

First up is Jaskinder Sehra (I think that’s right, apologies if not!) who has designed a freshers ‘bible’. A great idea that could work on a nation-wide scale. The execution of her bible is beautiful; parts are hand printed and solid design skills are shown throughout!

The prize for sheer genius should go to Jonathan (I’m really sorry I don’t know his Chinese name) because what he has created is incredible. Jonathan wanted to devise a teaching aid for Chinese students who learn English. What he has actually created is not just a system, but an entire new written language and a fully functional non-latin typeface to boot! “Chinglish” is an intelligent and polished solution to his aim. I have a lot of respect for Jonathan and really hope that he does well because I honestly believe that he deserves it.

My next image was going to be from illustration, but I couldn’t decide which to choose. The illustration students are a particularily strong bunch. If you are interested in illlustration (they even put some graphics students to shame!) then you really should pay BIAD a visit this week.

Finally, you should check out Tom Steventon (or Ayerst, I’m never sure which to put, sorry Tom). His photography is clearly thought out and the result are some unique images. Come check us out.

From the desk of Mr. Monk I'm a twenty-something creative type. This is my online journal in which I collect and share links, images, thoughts and sometimes reflect on current work.
